What ages is NEXUS designed for? −

NEXUS serves learners ages 4–18, organized into five growth stages: Spark (4–6), Explorer (7–9), Thinker (10–12), Creator (13–15), and Catalyst (16–18). We honor each stage as a distinct phase of development rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

Do I need to be a teacher? +

No. Your role is to be a witness to your child's growth. The AI mentor does the teaching. You create space, ask questions, celebrate discoveries. This is a shift from traditional models, but it's one that works. You don't need credentials or expertise — you need presence and care.

How does the AI mentor work? +

The AI mentor is a consistent character — not a generic chatbot. It learns your child's learning style, interests, and growth edges. It uses Socratic methods, asking better questions rather than providing answers. It's transparent about its reasoning. And it's always improving as it learns who your child is becoming.

What about traditional academic benchmarks? +

We quietly track progress against academic benchmarks — reading level, mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning — but we don't teach to them. Instead, we focus on depth, mastery, and genuine understanding. Your child builds a portfolio of real work: projects, writing, thinking. This portfolio is far more powerful than a transcript.

Is my child's data safe? +

Yes. NEXUS is built on local-first architecture: your child's data lives on a secure Mac mini in your home or region, not on corporate servers. We make four commitments: (1) We never sell your data. (2) We never use it for behavioral advertising. (3) Everything is encrypted. (4) You own your child's portfolio. We're COPPA-compliant and regularly SOC 2 audited.

How do global cohorts work? +

Eight to twelve children from different countries and time zones form a cohort. The AI handles translation in real time. You have both async collaboration (shared documents, recorded discussions) and live calls when time zones align. Diversity is intentional — your child learns from different perspectives, cultures, and ways of thinking.
